NFTGo Web3 Builder Talk Episode 8 – inSmallhome

Unbeknownst to many, an increasing number of Web3 builders have adopted Jeerclub as their avatar and spontaneously engaged in community promotion. Amidst the bear market, what accounts for Jeerclub's exceptional cohesion? What lies ahead in their strategic plans?

In our eighth edition of conversations, we are delighted to have inSmallhome, the Founder of Jeerclub, here to share her own Web3 journey.

Q: Welcome, inSmallhome! Could you please share your personal experiences and how you got involved in the Web3 industry?

A: About seven years ago, just a week before I entered the Web3 industry, a friend's wedding demanded a 500 RMB gift, which I couldn't afford, leading me to issue an IOU. Although I managed to navigate that situation somewhat gracefully (more like getting by), it left me with a sudden realization of my financial constraints, spurring me to seek change.

Consequently, I scrounged together 10,000 RMB to step into the Web3 space. However, my journey started with one setback after another, going from 1500u down to only 260u. Nonetheless, these experiences also led to a substantial accumulation of Web3 knowledge in a short period."

Q: Jeerclub is a remarkable NFT collection, and an increasing number of Chinese builders are adopting these avatars. Could you kindly elaborate on the motivation behind creating this NFT series?

A: My intention has always been to craft a PFP collection for the benefit of my friends.

I aimed to create a collection of high value, avoiding the creation of a low-cost PFP series. However, given the challenging conditions of the NFT market during a bearish phase, it was crucial to precisely target a high-net-worth demographic to sustain the value of this collection.

My aspiration is to provide individuals with an opportunity to express their social value without the need to invest millions in purchasing NFTs like those from the BAYC.

Q: During the creation and promotion of Jeerclub, what preparations were made, and were there any challenges encountered?

A: During the sale of Jeer, we conducted various tests, the details of which have never been publicly disclosed. When users were given the freedom to choose, approximately one-third of females were selected, while two-thirds of males were chosen.

Gender balance has historically been a concern for NFT projects founders. I believe Jeerclub has found a reasonable balance. Jeergirls were limited to 3,000, allowing space for 6,480 Jeerboys in subsequent releases.

As you've seen, Jeerclub didn't face significant challenges during its promotion. Influential figures within the Chinese-speaking community spared no effort in showcasing their PFPs.

However, we did encounter some difficulties in building the community. As I'm not inclined to turn people away, I received hundreds of DMs daily at the peak, which I couldn't attend to adequately. Throughout the distribution process, I repeatedly complained to the AlienSwap team as it was exhausting. It wasn't just about reading messages; I also had to engage in conversations and verify whether individuals were suitable for joining Jeerclub.

Q: What preparations were made during the creation and promotion of Jeerclub, and what are your future plans, especially considering the challenges that some collections, like Azuki, have faced due to hasty token issuance?

A: The preparation for the second-generation distribution of Azuki was excellent and quickly sold out. Moreover, the holders of the second generation of Azuki NFTs seem to appreciate the artwork. I truly envy Azuki for having such a dedicated fan base.

Firstly, Jeerclub can only become a blue-chip seed player when it reaches 5,000 holders, which is essential to have a significant voice and long-term presence in the Web3 space.

There are various strategies, and one that can be disclosed now is that Jeergirl and Jeerboy will eventually be combined into a single collection with Jeer. However, in the early stages of the roadmap, these two new collections were separate and initially appeared as revenue assets for Jeer. I studied the example of BAYC, which has an Honored Ape collection that isn't included in the main BAYC collection, and I find this approach unfair. Many holders don't promote the Honored Ape collection, so bundling them together allows for value consolidation and broader advocacy.

Jeer's existing holders are members who made significant contributions to the club in its early days.

In the creation of Jeergirl, I intentionally removed some of the special effects, leaving room for increased value, which benefits current Jeer holders. This also levels the playing field in terms of the collection's intrinsic value.

As mentioned earlier, the distribution process is quite challenging to manage personally, so the distribution of the new collection will be handled by Jeer holders. The distribution process will continue to emphasize strong interpersonal connections. Additionally, the team is working on a physical minting method, which we believe will be disclosed soon.

Q: Seeing you mentioning that he smokes three packs of cigarettes a day, is this a joke, or has the pressure from Web3 become too much for you? What are your future plans?

A: This is not a joke; indeed, even I find it quite excessive when it comes to smoking.

Web3 hasn't brought much pressure to me. I've long recovered my initial investment of 10,000 RMB, hahaha! In this market, there's no end to the money being made, but happiness is mine!

Returning to the topic, in the future, I will continue to explore opportunities around Jeer. For instance, Jeerchain has been in discussions with Metis recently. I've been persuading them to create a slot-based parallel chain similar to Polkadot, and we have reached some consensus. There are ongoing projects like Jeerseed, and the design team has been continuously working.

I find staying within Jeerclub particularly enjoyable, and being around a group of people like this allows me to pursue many things I love!

Q: Finally, do you have any words for builders in the Web3 industry?

A:

  1. I hope everyone will explore high-frequency use cases for their projects!

  2. You don't necessarily have to issue assets to make money!

  3. Gas-related issues are mostly resolved, and Ethereum doesn't need any projects to challenge it!

Epilogue

We express our sincere gratitude for inSmallhome's insights and eagerly anticipate Jeerclub's upcoming series and future performance.

We look forward to seeing what’s next for them and how their plans unfold in the years ahead. Stay tuned for our next engaging conversation with another prominent Web3 leader.
